Daniel Craig can thank Michael Fassbender for landing the role of James Bond! In a new interview, the 47-year-old Black Bag actor looked back at auditioning for Casino Royale with producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, but ended up advocating for Daniel, 57, to play the iconic British spy. Keep reading to find out more…“I’ve met with Barbara Broccoli just through passing, and I actually went in for an audition phase before Daniel was cast,” Michael recalled on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. “I don’t think I was ever in the mix,” he continued. “But I remember going into that room and sort of meeting with her and Wilson, and I was like, ‘I think Daniel Craig is…’ I don’t know why I was promoting him. I should’ve been promoting myself … I was terrible at auditions.” Michael then went on to sing his praises for Daniel, who ultimately starred in five Bond movies between 2006 and 2021. “Obviously, Daniel did a fantastic job and went on to, I think, be the most successful Bond in history,” Michael raved. “That was it, really. There was never a conversation after that.” As for if he’s in the running to be the next Bond, Michael said, “I think it’s over.
