After a season full of making trouble and calling LeBron James “old” the Grizzlies have informed Dillon Brooks he will not be returning next season.

Dillon Brooks spent the 2022-2023 NBA season becoming a household name and getting more attention than ever. Unfortunately, the attention wasn’t for his on-court basketball skills but for his trash talk. If you thought Patrick Beverly was the most annoying player in the league a new contender emerged this season. Brooks most famously caused quite the commotion when he had a flare-up with Shannon Sharpe during an away game against the Lakers. While Shannon did apologize we can’t overlook the pattern of behavior often displayed by Brooks. This Feburary he was ejected after an altercation with Donovan Mitchell. Those antics may have gotten a pass but his comments about LeBron James took the sports world by storm. After Memphis won a single playoff game against the Lakers he decided to “poke the bear” and called LeBron James “old”.

The Lakers went on to eliminate the Grizzlies and LeBron made easy work out of Dillon in the process. Not even a week after being sent to Cancun the Memphis leadership has reportedly made a decision on his future. NBA insider Shams Charania claims Memphis has informed Dillon that he will not return to the team no matter what. Unfortunately, this goes to show poking bears isn’t a smart decision and all attention isn’t good attention.
