Sharon Stone Talks 'Basic Instinct' Pay Disparity & Disrespect on Set, Says Michael Douglass Made Millions More Than Her

Sharon Stone has some less than fond memories from when she filmed Basic Instinct.

The 65-year-old actress starred in the hit back in 1992 alongside Michael Douglas. However, she shared that the pair were not paid anywhere near the same for the movie.

During a recent appearance, Sharon discussed the disparity and revealed that someone involved with the project was disrespectful to her.

Michael Douglas made $14 million. Now, I was new. I was new and he was a very big star,” Sharon recalled while attending the New York Women In Film & Television’s 43rd annual Muse Awards lunch, according to Page Six.

Sharon previously revealed that she was only paid about $500,000 for the role in an essay published by InStyle.

“I put in my contract that I could keep the clothes [from the movie]. People thought I was crazy, but the truth is I wasn’t getting paid much compared to my male co-star. I made $500,000; Michael made $14 million,” she wrote at the time.

The pay wasn’t the only thing that made the experience uncomfortable. The actress recalled that a line producer refused to learn her name and called her “Karen” when they worked together.

“Even at the Governor’s Ball, he still called me ‘Karen!’ And, I carried that humiliation really deeply within me — even though my name wasn’t on the poster,” she shared at the event.

Sharon has previously spoken out about the way that Basic Instinct caused her to lose custody of her child. She also claimed that she was tricked into not wearing underwear for the infamous scene in the movie.

She also revealed two co-stars who always treated her with respect while calling out misogyny in Hollywood.

If you missed it, Sharon recently made a shocking claim about her finances.
