 Lone Star' Was Canceled

Ryan Murphy is confirming some exciting 9-1-1 news!

The 58-year-old TV mogul, who currently has six shows on air or streaming, announced that a second spinoff of the popular Fox turned ABC drama is in the works.

In a new interview, he confirmed the news, which was rumored last month, and he revealed why the first spinoff, 9-1-1: Lone Star, was really canceled at Fox after five seasons.

“[Co-creator] Tim Minear and I are working on a new spinoff that we’re actually writing, and that we hope to get on the air next fall,” he shared with Variety. “Sadly, we all love ‘Lone Star,’ but the financials just didn’t work. It’s a Disney company that was on a Fox network, and it just was never going to work. And we had a long run of it. So now we’re going to launch a new show in a new city that I can’t name, but it’s fun. And 9-1-1 moved to ABC and suddenly became, I think, the biggest show on Thursday night. They obviously have an appetite for that, so we’re going to give them another one that I really love.”

The location for the new spinoff is currently unknown, but we can’t wait to find out more!

9-1-1 is produced by Disney-owned 20th Television, where Ryan has had many shows, including Glee, American Horror Story, American Crime Story, Scream Queens, Feud, Pose and Doctor Odyssey, which just recently premiered on ABC.
